Who we are

Started in August of 2022, Fishing Penguin was born from a love of adventure. An idea so radical, that all our friends still call us crazy to this day. Nonetheless, with one artsy sister and a less so artsy brother, the idea of Fishing Penguin began to take life.

At Fishing Penguin, we’re not just about clothing—we’re about breaking the norm and embracing the unknown. Our carefully hand-drawn designs capture the spirit of exploration, encouraging you to seek more adventure in life. Each piece is crafted with a blend of comfort and fashion, designed to inspire you to push past society's limits and chart your own course.

Now go find your fish, find your inner penguin.

Sustainability

At Fishing Penguin, we are committed to sustainability and ethical production throughout every step of our process. Our designs are hand-drawn and printed directly onto shirts in the U.S., reflecting our dedication to creativity and local craftsmanship. The shirts we use are manufactured in the United States through our partnership with Bella+Canvas, a brand known for its eco-conscious and responsible practices.

Where Our Shirts Come From:

We proudly source our blank shirts from Bella+Canvas, a company that emphasizes sustainability in several key areas:

  • Water Reduction:
Bella+Canvas utilizes only bluesign®-approved dyes and chemicals, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. Their wastewater undergoes extensive treatment at reclamation sites to prevent contamination of natural water systems.

  • Energy Reduction:
Their facilities in Los Angeles are designed to minimize energy use through motion-sensor LED lighting, skylights, and electric vehicle charging stations. Bella+Canvas is also exploring the installation of solar panels to further reduce their carbon footprint and even generate power for the local community.

  • Waste Reduction:
They have optimized production to minimize waste and recycle all fabric scraps, repurposing them into products like baby bibs, dog bed filling, or upholstery stuffing. Their commitment to "let nothing go to waste" aligns with our values at Fishing Penguin.

  • Ethical Manufacturing and American Jobs:
Bella+Canvas is committed to manufacturing in the U.S., particularly in Los Angeles, where they cut and dye most of their garments. They provide hundreds of jobs while ensuring fair and humane working conditions, exceeding WRAP certification standards. This includes fair labor practices, health and safety standards, and environmental compliance.

At Fishing Penguin, sustainability means creating with purpose, producing responsibly, and aligning with partners who share our values. We are proud to offer clothing that not only represents a free-spirited lifestyle but also contributes to a better future for people and the planet.
